The new Hyundai Venue is making the SUV segment richer and more sophisticated. The Venue is attractively styled, feature-rich, rugged and comfortable. The base trim SE is paired to a six-speed manual gear box, while the other two trims come with CVT. While all trims use the same engine, they differ slightly in terms of fuel efficiency: the entry-level SE offers 30 MPG combined, the SEL runs 32 miles on the gallon, while the Denim does even more, offering 34 MPG combined. All variants are five-seaters and front wheel-driven.

Attractive Exterior Design

The Venue is the Korean auto maker’s smallest SUV to date, a compact, front-wheel drive five-seater with a huge personality. It comes in three trims: the SE, the SEL and the Denim, all of them sharing the same, 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder engine that puts out 121 HP at 113 torque. Trim levels vary in terms of gear box type: the SE comes with a six-speed manual gear box, while the SEL and the Denim are paired to a superb CVT. Fuel-efficiency ratings vary depending on the gear box – the versions equipped with the manual gear offer 30 MPG combined, the SEL does 32 miles on the gallon, while the Denim is rated at 34 MPG combined. Venue Interior and Infotainment

The first thing that anyone will notice instantly is how spacious the small Venue’s cabin is, even with all the seats in the erect position (when the 60/40 folding seats are up, available cargo space is 19 cubic feet, but with the seats folded, the available space can be increased to 32 cubic feet with a few small moves) and the quality of the materials used will also impress. The Venue cabin stands out in terms of comfort features – the base trim comes with a 6-way adjustable driver seat, while the top trim adds integrated heated for both seats in the front. 

The new Venue offers everything one can expect in terms of infotainment as well. The 8-inch touchscreen offered as standard across the line-up features a clean and sleek design and the AM/FM/HD radio, the various output jacks, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard as well. Other standard features include steering-wheel mounted audio controls, a hands-free phone system through Bluetooth and a manual air conditioning system, replaced with automatic systems on the higher trims.

Standout Safety Features

Hyundai has always made driver and passenger safety a priority and the Venue is surely a token of that commitment. The safety suit is very complex even in the form offered with the entry trim – the package installed as standard on all trims includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist complete with Pedestrian Detection, Driver Attention Warning as well as Lane Keeping Assist. The options available for the medium trim include Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning – features that are part of the standard level of equipment on the highest, Denim variant. 

Hyundai has also packed lots of passive safety features into the Venue. ABS, electronic stability control, traction control, brake assist and electronic brake force distribution are all there, offered as standard on all Venue models and all bodies come with special reinforcements and crumple zones, too.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Hyundai Venue buyers will benefit from very favorable warranty conditions as well. Those who choose the Venue will enjoy a 10-year warranty on the powertrain and a limited warranty of 60,000 miles or 5 years. T

he pricing of the Venue also makes it competitive – the entry trim is available for prices slightly over $17,000, the medium trim comes for around $800 more, while the Denim can be bought for slightly under $22,000.
